I don't see how nostr helps, the apps built on top like Damus or Amethyst are still social media like in nature?

I guess since it is more self directed and not algo-forced.

Also zaps make you smile! ⚡️😄

Incumbents are fundamentally different in their algorithmically addicting, ad-driven design.

idk why, but nostr so far has been pure signal.

i follow around the same ppl, but the lvl of conversation is far better than twitter.

like ppl just writting whatever shit they feel like and it's great

maybe it's just because it's a small network, and it won't stay that way, but i hope it stays a center for conversations

Yes

I’m not sure bundling it all as “social media” helps the problem here. I think legacy new media and when legacy media started to invest in new media tracks with the numbers here. I prefer to call what we are doing now as decentralized media and hopefully the structure prevents a monolith from consolidating media as all the same toxic thing.

I hear you, but I’d say that’s not what’s at issue. It’s the business model, and thus the incentives.

It literally has become all adverts, sponsorship, or product placement. All the ways to spend ye fiat. 💸

And nostr is where you spend ye zaps. 😂
