In 1821, during the Greek War of Independence, Gregory IV bravely stood against the tide of violence in Bucharest. When Ottoman soldiers began massacring locals, Gregory, armed with only his faith and moral authority, confronted the Pasha. He negotiated a cessation of the bloodshed, saving countless lives. Despite facing threats and immense pressure, he remained steadfast in his commitment to peace and the protection of his flock. May his example inspire us to acts of courage, compassion, and intercession. Lord, hear our prayers.
