Now, please can someone tell me the flow to calculate a 12/24th word checksum 🙏🙏
I have followed the instructions but when I get to the option to ‘Calculate’ and select that, it wants me to enter the 12th word.
I am running the latest firmware.
Hey! How did you update the firmware? I have original jade but never updated it, just kept in cupboard four years and now it won't update - not recognized when connected.. You know how to update firmware of original jade from 2021?
Mm mine was recognized so not sure if I can help. Also mine had been initialized in the past, I don’t know if that made a difference.
Here’s what I did:
- Downloaded nostr:npub1jg552aulj07skd6e7y2hu0vl5g8nl5jvfw8jhn6jpjk0vjd0waksvl6n8n Green wallet on my laptop
- Plugged the Jade in via USB C (I still have the original cord, not sure if that makes a difference)
- Green wallet app online recognized my device (displayed the same fingerprint as shown on the device)
- I selected the option to update the firmware without radio
- It took a few minutes to complete.
Oh, something else, I had forgotten the pin so before I entered the last try (you get three tries), I did a factory reset:
- Switch the device off
- Then switch on and immediately when you see the jade logo, you press the black select button next to the screen and it opens an option on the screen to do a factory reset.
In case you want to try that, if it doesn’t work the first time, just keep trying because you need to time the pressing of the select button right as that logo flashes on the screen .

Yes but I am updating the seed rolling tutorial I made based on the method nostr:npub1337xxyne0pw52zgd984xqqs2q7qhqpt7phhn7xp6t9yt406vrvescdpkdt taught me, so I want to be able to calculate the checksum.
I think I just figured it out though !
