Why, I run it on all my computers
I am a bit of a tech noob, but if I want to buy a (cheap) laptop for this what should I be looking at?

If you check the stats of a raspberry pi 4 8gb and it runs on that fine - anything slightly above that will do much better which is a pretty low end cheap laptop.
