₿ seems to be the only agreed-upon, recognizable symbol, and if it's all just sats in the actual code, I think they'll become what we're used to using. I still call them sats, but I don't mind seeing the ₿ symbol used.

Gone are the days when a Bitcoin was worth a dollar, or multiple Bitcoin were spent on ordinary purchases.
