Isn't it just a really cheap Zap? StackerNews has an interesting model where commenting costs a sat, and you can tip any comment or post with any amount. I like it. It encourages people to participate actively and thoughtfully.

Additionally, a small portion of post tips go to a "pool" that gets redistributed daily among the top comment and post contributors.
