In Vancouver, the government says the foreign buyers and immigrants have purchased everything and are using real estate as a specilative investment. This is what has driven up the price and caused the lack of housing for people that want to live here.

The tax dollars from property transfer taxes, admin fees and all the other bullshit taxes that goes with buying and selling real estate is too good to let go. The government are a product of the problems we now face.
