When I was a child. I wandered around through the Vatican. It was very different then.
There were no barriers, glass or bars. I climbed up on the scaffolding used for the restoration of the Sistine chapel.
A priest came in while deep in prayer and called out to me. "What are you doing my son", he said. "I'm admiring his work father", I replied.
To which he simply said "I seee". Then left me to my explorations. Down into the tombs where the Popes were buried.
I added my touch to the worn and smoothed foot of Mary and the Pietà on my way out. Such was innocence..🙂
