War is a consequence of flawed human assumptions that people can trust each other at increasingly large scales, that trustworthiness is maintained as abstract power and control increases, that logical constraints can sufficiently prevent abuse of power, and that humans are an exception to nature.

Due to these assumptions, people design trust-based and permission-based systems that are neither protected by nor against their ruling class's abstract power, resulting in systemic insecurity. Physical power (warfare) is necessary to compensate for these security flaws, as ruling classes are powerless to defend their population against outside threats, and the ruled class is powerless to defend their polity against insider threats.

War is a reminder that there is no substitute for physical power and control over valuable resources in a systemically secure way, and that abstract power hierarchies are inherently flawed.
