Yes! Archival full node if you have over 500GB space, or pruned full node can be as small as 6GB

If you don’t have 500 GB free, how do you handle the requirement to download the entire chain before pruning it?

Am I misunderstanding how that works?

You will be able to select the option to download a pruned node. It is still archival, as it will verify every block, ever mined since the genesis block, it just does not store all the info, only the hashes of the block headers iirc
