In November 2019, I pre-ordered a cybertruck.
In June 2024, I took delivery of my cybertruck…which didn’t involve them delivering me anything, it was my wife driving 3 hrs with PoA documents to go pick it up.
The vehicle “came with” Full Self Driving, hub caps, and an off road light bar…which arrived separately over the following 12 months…
The truck “came with” a wall connector and electrical gateway that would let you power home outlets with the vehicle battery.
I just got the gateway and wall connector installed in the back garage…sorta…the ostensibly Tesla trained electricians almost set the gateway on fire upon testing…I have a video of it smoking…bear in mind this is testing they would not have done were it not for me requesting proof they installed it correctly (since it took 3 days and this is the simplest install job possible…very few circuits and all circuits can be powered by the truck battery though the gateway, unlike houses where you have to pick and choose).
I like Tesla being forward thinking, but everything takes far longer than they imply…and it’s very much buyer beware. I suspect someday Tesla will be a battery and software company…they need huge product margins to pay for recall and warranty repairs (for which I’ve had 4 visits in 18 months of ownership and I haven’t even hit 10,000 miles on it yet).
