Well, it's all very hypothetical. I'd probably have ended up a completely different person, if I had stayed single. Not necessarily a better or worse person, but definitely a different one. Or I might have become a nun.

At any rate, I probably wouldn't have been able to stay single, for long, as men were always trying to marry me, and they can be incredibly persistent. Sounds weird; had to be there.

There's a real bifurcation in the female population; you can see it, in the middle-aged women who come back on the market after being divorced or widowed. Some women are born to be pumped-and-dumped, and others are born to be hog-tied and dragged to a cabin in the hills and chained to the stove.
