I always associate nudism with hippies, to be honest. There's some inherent connection between wandering around naked and being a commie.
Real world societies where clothes aren't normalized, never cross the ocean because they're just set on staying connected to the ancient natural way of living on the land
Real world nudists who cross oceans are usually just taking a break from society where they wear clothes
This would be like a huge number of people deciding they're not going back to society and they want to reconnect with nature in a new land
