There is this Trevor Noah clip where he noted that in some ways the racism in South Africa was better because it was so blatant. It makes it easier to fight against when you don’t have to also prove to people that it exists.

I think about that when I see these types of posts from the red pilled dudes. It’s so blatant, so clear. No one can deny that they actively seek to repress women. ...it’s nice that what I’ve been saying exists for years is now openly telling the world that it exists.

Reading Shere Hite’s work as a teenager was a real eye-opener to this reality. My mom left it out. She didn’t tell me to read it, but she must’ve figured I was naturally curious. That was an education.

Ha, smart lady. I've not read any of Hite's work. You think it should be on my reading list?

It may not be cutting edge research these days but The Hite Report on Female Sexuality and The Hite Report on Men and Male Sexuality couldn’t be more starkly different and were definitely illuminating, poignant, depressing, hopeful, infuriating. It’s been a few decades since I read them, so I don’t know, but I think so, even if only for their historical significance.

I’m looking at her bibliography now. Maybe the Shere Hite Reader would be the book to pick up.
