One of the biggest problems with any block size change is that there’s no schelling point regarding what to change it to or when to change it. Which means consensus will be difficult to achieve.

Yes, that is for sure. There are *slightly* fewer unknowns now. We may only get one shot at doing it quite optimially. So maybe better to wait and let super intelligent AI help us come up with a plan. The whole topic has been laced with propaganda, and bad actors, too. Nevertheless, it's a nice problem, to try and get right. Ultimately it comes down to making a solid proposlal, testing it, and arguing the case.
