Why is everyone so hot for lists? I don't get it.

Looks like some sort of holy grail of nostr

Because it's a very easy way to do "algorithms" while giving users choice to which algorithm to follow. Lists can be made manually or automatically. All a client has to do is to keep listening for any changes to the list and adjust the feed accordingly.

So you mean someone crates a list with many scripts and I chose which script from the list to use?

Yep. On a third party app. So, you can choose the app and also which scripts you want to generate your lists.

So, if the focus is on "scripts", why is it being "sold" as a "list"?

Do you have any concrete example of list so it becomes more clear?

This is my Amethyst Devs list, for instance

nostr:naddr1qqx5zmt9w358jum5ypzx2annqgsyvrp9u6p0mfur9dfdru3d853tx9mdjuhkphxuxgfwmryja7zsvhqrqsqqqafs3ap6hw

Ok, I saw some examples and I get it better. I think a verb was missing. So by list you mean "sharing personal lists".

The verb "sharing" helps to know which action is intended with the noun "lists".

It's a nice idea!

The elements of lists are not only People, right? It could be also scripts as you daid, or even a shopping wish list, right?

Build yours on listr.lol (desktop)

Yes. Lists are arbitrary collections of anything that’s taggable in Nostr (basically everything) can be added to a list. People, notes, other lists, any other event really.

I’m not sure what the “scripts” bit is about though. You can’t put arbitrary code to be executed in lists.
