You should not send DMs before setting your DM relays. That's why the annoying box is there.

why what is the difference ? can we have abit more info

If you don't, your encrypted DMs are sent to all large relays and shared around in the hopes that it reaches the receiver. The same on the other way around.

You don't want your DMs everywhere.

ohhhh simply put

thanks for the info. best i think is to run own relay and connected only there so nobody else have access to DMs , right

Yep, but running your own relay is annoying. You can use a service provider you trust to manage it for you. They can see the time you are receiving messages but that's it. Everything else is encrypted.

thats great. just in case i have already few paid relays may be can connect just for them and it will be enough i believe or no ?

are there is different types of relays (like some of them only for DMs or some other stuff) ?

also if i connect few relays for DMs via Amethyst are they gonna work the same if in some moments uses different client ?

There are different kinds. You want a relay that anyone can write to you with their key without having to pay (free to write) while ALSO requiring an authentication to download your messages so that only you can download them.

Usually a simple paid relay won't work because it requires payment to post and anyone can download. You want the oposite for DMs. inbox.nostr.wine is a good one.

thanks. have a goodone

Does the recipient of a dm i send also have to join/pay for that relay in order to answer me on dm?
