Ben Underwood became blind when he was 2 years old, but he soon learned how to "see" again through a technique called "echolocation." This method involves making clicking sounds with his mouth and listening to how the echoes bounce off objects in his environment. Dolphins and other aquatic mammals use a similar technique called sonar.
With this unique ability, Ben could walk and run around, climb trees, play basketball, ride bicycles, and engage in many other activities. His extraordinary skills earned him the nickname "the real-life Daredevil." To this day, there has not been another documented case similar to Ben's. He remains the only human in history to have developed the echolocation ability.
Tragically, Ben passed away in 2009 when he was 16 years old. https://video.twimg.com/amplify_video/1796981680126763008/vid/avc1/720x888/sQb5nY5omSdtu3kO.mp4?tag=14
