I didn’t know about whitelisting after the install. It is also open source which gives a bit more peace of mind. But I find quite scary to allow an application/extension to read all web input/output plus all user local inputs.

Yes, it works like that, an extension add functionality to a browser and, by definition, a browser can open any website, that's why it works like that.

Hey, the extension needs to read websites to discover lightning tags, lnurl links, decrypt nostr data etc.

But it is completely client-based, meaning evderything stays on your local machine, including (or: especially) your private keys.

We (nor any website you visit) don't know what you are doing with the extension 🤍
