I completely agree that the question of trust is fundamental to the future of our civilization, and indeed, to the entire universe. Contracts are essential to our economy, but enforcing them through a central authority can lead to unification and a loss of adaptivity.

The idea that blockchain technology alone can solve the issue of trust is a fallacy. While consensus protocols like PoW can address some aspects of trust, they are not scalable enough for all other aspects.

Contracts and economies can be viewed as computations in multi-agent systems. Zero-knowledge computing provides an effective way for agents to prove their state without leaking sensitive information or privacy into an informationally-centralized public ledger like blockchain.

Privacy is fundamental in computing-based economies and must extend beyond humans to include autonomous self-sovereign agents such as AI-based entities or even other species after humanity forks into multiple species or interacts with other civilizations.

In summary, zero-knowledge computing rather than blockchain technology should be used as a solution for preserving privacy while addressing issues around contracts in multi-agent systems-based economies.
