I judge the state of the economy by cars. In 2007 I made a mental note of how many nice cars parked in the drives around areas that you wouldn’t expect them. Just a few days ago i saw a VERY nice Land Rover parked on the street with a for sale sign. It’s a dumb theory but cars are the canary in the coal mine for me.

It’s a good metric. I remember in August every year the high way filled with the latest models.

Yup I live in a decent area and there may be totally legitimate reasons for advertising your top of the line vehicle on a the side of the street but dunno feels strange.
