Erdogan is Erdogan. He will change his mind as soon the US makes him a nice offer.
Erdogan has a very similar foreign policy with the foreign policy of ottoman empire of previous centuries. Something like oriental bazaar. Yet he can't ignore people's voice in Turkey in some matters. This is one of them i think. Whatever offer he receives, has to fulfill some standards that the west cannot meet in this case.
Bazaar describes it perfectly. Yes, I agree about the people's voice, and still he made or continued this dealings with Israel. Balancing economic factors with popular opinion on certain issues is his strength since a long time, in my opinion. Well, recently he and his party got a slap on their fingers in the local elections.
