Using WeChat gives you a real world understanding of what is to come.
At least once a year I’ll be out and go to buy something with my WeChat. I go to scan the payment QR code and receive a message that access has been denied. I’m then told I need to reverify my account.
In short, I’m cut off without prior notice to the ability to spend my money.
Thankfully, I have Alipay as a backup and for whatever reason that platform isn’t as heavy handed with KYC/AML.
