You have to click to see notifications (I don't have the object permanence for this) which then take up the entire screen which in turn discourages you from clicking them because it interrupts the timeline viewing experience.

The permanent notifications bar in the third column is perfect, I can see it all the time and it does not intrude on my scroooolling.
