It seems to mostly happen when I open the globe/explore icon or the public chats with the large amounts of random people.

How can you tell your phone is downloading?

I have an android, and it shows in the notifications window up top. I cancel it before it completes every time.

That looks like a language pack to me.

Maybe it downloads in order to translate German to English?

I suppose that would make sense. It would be great if it asked me so I wouldn't jump to the worst case scenario. Lol.
