loving the conversations about protocol handling dumb clients

i'm a relay dev, idgaf about how clients do it, but clients keep trying if you drop the connection, so it's cheaper to ignore them and ping pong their connections and drop every message they send until they send the damn auth

i don't think that holding open websockets is that expensive but maybe if you have a shitton of dumbass clients on your relay you may need spam mitigation techniques to conserve websocket connections, such as cloudflare and so on

i'm happy to be in this fight because security matters, and so does spam resistance

this network will never matter until it can withstand both attacks, bitcoin has this down, go study it you dumbasses

since you all claim to be bitcoiners

you aren't a real bitcoiner if you build network protocols and don't even know how bitcoin handles spam

ignoring dumbass requests works, it's well proven, and it's part of how cloudflare does it

same with firewalls

same technique will work, you all kids are just so young and green you don't understand that nothing really changes
