I wonder what percentage of total Bitcoin node runners also use ordinals
I would guess around 1%. And it's not enough of an economic block to affect any meaningful change. Larger than the ordisrespector cult, but still not huge.
I currently run 5 full nodes. I have 2 inscriptions I made testing out and documenting how things work back in February to be able to use Sparrow and Bitcoin Core CLI to work with inscriptions. I directly helped 6 newcomers setup nodes, which was a requirement to create ordinals at the beginning. You must have Bitcoin core 24.0.1 to use the ordinals client so that's also a limiting factor.
The degens don't really setup nodes and keep running. The stuff being made now isn't being created for or sold/dumped on people that run nodes, it's for speculators that still don't understand what theyve got. Weird way to shift wealth from weak hands to strong hands but history is full of more stupid choices than good ones.

That fucking rocks š¤š¤š¤
right. back in february i helped roughly 2 dozen of them setup full nodes. now with ordinal wallet, they don't need full nodes. they aren't running them any longer. they don't need it and nor do they care about doing it. it was a nice thought. i had hoped they would stick it out.
May take multiple touches. They haven't seen the value of running your own node. Before they did it because they had to in order to create. We need to work on the economic angle of self verification and sovereignty. Get them out of the trust mindset.
