So the Thresher incident was legit. Her emergency air valves froze during a test and she went down. Implosions are instantaneous. Over in a micro-second. The Scorpion they tried to cover up as an accidental torpedo explosion from inside. But, if you look at her damage you know it was externally initiated. She was torpedoed back in the 60s, but kept quiet as not to start a war.
Now the Kursk (Russian sub lost in the Bearants) had several people still alive after the explosion. Lives were lost because the Russian government didn't want anyone else involved.
I could keep going. Tragedies all around, though. Doesn't matter your nationality. Submariners are submariners no matter where you go.
