Will AI ever learn how to render hands correctly?
Discussion
in time it will do everything better than a human
Hopefully not.
Once AI algorithms have proper 3D models + natural poses as basis for characters, this will be improved.
However, AI algorithms are naturally inferior to human cognitive abilities: humans are always steps ahead in creative processes.
As we humans design new, sensible 3D models, an AI algorithm can only copy them after we have made them. Humans are far more advanced at intelligently designing things with purpose. Over time we will have stronger competition from AI, but simultaneously we develop better tools.
AI is mostly useful to speed up workflows and handle tedious tasks. Design decisions are fundamental for human expression and there is no reason to outsource them to algorithms. Contemporary human workflows are quite fast, even without AI.
