I like the distribution part of the electrical grid to be underground. Thats the part of the grid that connects to residential areas.

It is underground for both my US home and my Egyptian home.

Transmission lines are more expensive to put underground, and they go quite long distances. In Egypt’s case, they run between cities across the desert, so above-ground is likely far more economical.

however, above ground is far more susceptible to sabotage and solar flare damage

and i should point out that smaller, more distributed generation locations is more resilient
