Just read a post about writing a book.

To write at least 1/3 before reading what you've written.

Eh, I have a different perspective. Since I write fiction, I first get into the world, I come up with scenes and get to know the characters.

Then while writing, I write some, then I sometimes read whatever I last wrote to help get back into it. I will sometimes do a rough edit of a section because by elevating the previous scene, I get into a flow state and then want to keep going.

I do agree with not getting super critical about what I've already written, but to keep going until it's done, as writing a book is not a one-and-done type thing, but more like a first draft of 5, where adding sections or connections that were missing is okay. Making sure all the rabbit trails end up somewhere.

I miss writing, I think that after a few months break, I'm finally ready to get back into it! I already know part of the story, I just need to tie it together and make sure my writing helps the reader feel like they're in the room.
