The publishing industry has systematically turned the literary economy into a reputation economy and now it has no idea how to refocus.

As with other issues affecting mainstream publishing and literature, the only solution is a kind of strategic self destruction. Writers must remove their identities from the ecosystem and leave nothing but texts for the system to work with.
