The BNB Chain has introduced a new data archive layer called BNB Chronicle, designed to address the issue of unbounded state growth on its blockchain. The solution provides long-term data availability while maintaining trustlessness and decentralization. With the total storage size of a full node reaching 2.45TiB, BNB Chronicle reduces storage needs by excluding historical data, aligning with proposals like EIP4444 and BEP283. The archive layer consists of three components: Block/Blob Indexer, API Server, and Light Peers, ensuring data integrity through post-verification.
