the only privacy-respecting anti-virus i recommend is clam av . it's an awesome open-source tool, but it is no substitute for basic holistic opsec practices.

I stopped using them back when Win2K was still supported. Only virus I ever got was completely my fault for using Bear Share knowing it was likely to happen.
