I always pay in cash. No plastic if avoidable. Sadly cash tracking is quite advanced in Germany and as bills go from the bank into my wallet into shop's wallet into the bank, all my shopping still gets tracked. The ATM registers the serial numbers and when the shop brings the bills back to the bank, again.
