That is a Mongolian Gerbil. Was very docile for a gerbil. Rather more curious and social than I am used to.
Our family's last guinea pigs and bunnies just died last year.
Need more cuddle stuff.

I would suggest a cat, but I’m biased. Have you considered a ferret? I’m seriously debating it. A lot more intelligence to work with there.
Well, I have a little nephew, right now, but I don't know how many more I'll be getting. 😂
And he's starting to run around and be less cuddly.
