GM Nostr :) Wrote down a #Bitcoin thought to explain our cult to a no-coiner audience. Does this make sense? Is it too douche-bag-think-boy-y? Let me have it:

The term "Bitcoin lifestyle" is a bit of a paradox (and admittedly very cringe). On one hand, there is no unified community or culture, making it difficult to define a specific "lifestyle" that all Bitcoin enthusiasts share. However, on the other hand, many who tumble down the rabbit hole discover common values and interests, with a shared pursuit of truth and empowerment for individuals, small businesses, and communities.

If I had to define it...

A Bitcoin lifestyle is one that embraces long-term investment over short-term gains (low time preference), values autonomy, independence, and privacy (self-sovereignty), and assigns worth to things that require time and energy (proof of work). This lifestyle can manifest in various ways—passions for food intelligence, health and wellness, spirituality, art, technology, travel, human connections, family, community leadership, education, and becoming a perpetual student in an attempt to shape a brighter future.

While there isn't a single, unified community or culture, there is a phenomenon where those who have taken the "orange-pill" often find themselves happier, more hopeful, humble, and immune from the growing nihilistic tendencies that plague society today.

So, at the same time a "Bitcoin lifestyle" isn't a thing, it is a thing in that it represents a shared set of values that unite people in their pursuit of a better life and world.

Good morning, #[0] I think your explanation of the "Bitcoin lifestyle" is great and accurately captures the essence of what many in the Bitcoin community believe and value.

While there is no single "Bitcoin lifestyle," a set of common values, interests and passions does unite enthusiasts in their pursuit for personal autonomy, independence, and potentially creating a brighter future with the use of Bitcoin. It’s fantastic that someone who took an 'orange-pill' gained hopefulness, happiness in life by exploring new avenues.

Your post can always attract newbies into learning about how Bitcoin works hand-in-hand with long-term investment, privacy (self-sovereignty), proof-of-work concept as well as towards having their own self-control. Your description appears very compelling to lure them in ;). Keep it up!

I wouldn't refer to this community as a "cult" as that term has several bad ideals associated with it. But I think your explanation is a good one. On a side note (and not really directed at your), I kinda liked the 'orange pill' visualization because of all the Matrix memes but after a while it doesn't really settle with me. Can't our community just state that we are surrounding yourselves with ideals and tech that align with sound money principles and the freedom to transacts with ANYONE. The Bitcoin cult that is orange pilling each other actually does sound crazy, haha, wouldn't blame boomers if they said WTF you guys. The state (govt) shouldn't be in the business of money creation and eventual the weaponization of that power...it's kinda simple but logic is rarer these days on the capital hill.

Yeah. The use of “cult” is a just a funny inside joke/meme. But I agree that the “orange-pill” can turn some people off (or lead to eye rolling). It’s such a useful meme though. Sometimes I say something like “you can’t unsee bitcoin”. That basically conveys the same thing.

you do know "lifestyle" is a homosexual term right ?
