Nostr people very opinionated, likely get muted. I know I mute and unfollow a lot, especially AI related “art” or any dumb takes. Doesn’t mean I don’t like that person, just don’t care to hear what they have to say about some subject.
It also so happens some of us somehow were in the recommended user list for all new signups. I know devs added themselves 😆 and I somehow made it into a few. Tons of lurkers too.
Ignore the follow count. It’s a superficial old world relic.
I agree, people get way too offended/ but hurt about being muted then they go mute others haha, and I agree follow count isn’t a good way to judge one’s reach or value, I don’t have a lot of followers but I have a lot of friends and a lot of engagement.
I mute and unmute and refollow and unfollow all the time. It’s never personal, just a filtration mechanism for things I want to see less or more of at that time. If we had better ways to do it that would be great.
I never once looked at who mutes me. I imagine it’s many people because I talk shit all the time 🤣 I’m not angry at them for muting me - don’t even know if they did.
Yeah I never look at mine either, would be a cool feature to be able to unfollow people temporarily without muting them too, know Damus has a timed mute thing which is also helpful. I go through and filter my follows every couple months too.
