The thing that made me choose New Orleans as my landing place wasn't the 24 hour bars or the great food or the great music, even though all of those were fantastic benefits. The sole reason I moved there was the utter lack of judgement of one another.

The people I met had names like "Sarge", "Buggy Rick", "Billy from Philly", "Little Lucy", "Big Lucy" (who always hated that name as she isn't big at all - but she was bigger than the very diminutive "Little Lucy", so...). It was like the Wild West but between the gunfights, as I cannot remember any violence, not physical nor verbal, between any of us in those days. The last names, the pasts, whether they be sad, or criminal or both, or neither, were all left behind. The only concern we had amongst each other was "who's buying the next round"?

Those days are long gone of course - the internet, Google, social media and the influx of more well-to-do people dragged us from our little cocoon into the "great wide open", which is populated, as Tom Petty once sang, by "rebels without a clue".

The human propensity to judge is unfathomable to me. It is by far the most beloved activity of most humans - hence the popularity of Springer, Judge Judy and their ilk. I even had a person quote the bible to me regarding Jesus tossing those people from the temple, but they were quieted when I remarked that was done by Jesus, who also spoke of "casting the first stone". I feel that as "all men are created equal", none of us may judge the character or in many cases even the deeds of others of us.

This isn't to say that we are not to defend ourselves, either directly or by "prejudice" (i have witnessed this guy throw boiling water on someone before - I may want to avoid him, especially if he's carrying a pot), but ultimately the judgement isn't ours to make.

Chill out. Enjoy life. Stop worrying about what others are doing, unless they are directly affecting you - and in that case, do something about it. Stop watching television. Use the internet to learn, not to destroy.

Final word about this "blue check" nonsense: I have said before that the perfect social media vehicle would be one with no "handles" at all. Instead, we would be presented with an infinite blank wall on which may express anything we wish! Judge the ideas, not the people. *sigh*
