The two should have never been the same encode. They are not the same reaction. Clients do not use them in the same way. Semantics are all different.

I didn’t really like it either, someone suggested it and i didn’t want to argue so i added it in. A spec is a spec though.

Sure, a spec is a spec. But the same spec also allow any other reaction, which I prefer to focus at. In that way, those debating if + should be a like or an upvote can sort themselves out without our interference.
