Totally agree.. my nostr experience lately has been between several little apps all working together !

Checked it out. It says it aims to be a telegram replacement?

I actually haven’t logged out in a while so I don’t know what the landing page says 😂

It only shows a portion on my DMs under the heading of "Contacts" .

I have 8 "Contacts" and 8 "strangers". What's a stranger?!

1. Why you don't see all DMs

Most free public relays don't store DMs forever. Therefore, when you are signing in from a new client or even the same client but on a different device, the newly signed in client can't load older DMs.

Some clients such as Iris operate its own non-relay servers to store all DM events.

Blowater is a pure client and doesn't have any server infrastructure because operating server infrastructure is against the decentralization philosophy.

2. Strangers are people who have send you DMs but you haven't responded yet or vice versa. But because some old DMs might be removed by relays, so user A might appear as strangers on Blowater even if you have conversation with them on other clients.

3. Blowater stores all DMs locally so that even if a relay removes old DMs, as long as you don't clear your browser data, you will always see them.

La esperaremos entonces, es hora de tener una buena app de DM en NOSTR
