I've found RSS feeds I e added (via Atomstr) can miss posts here and there. Maybe 'offocial' RSS feeds are more reliable

Yes you're probably right, RSS isn't dead. I think I wanted to say "nobody uses RSS anymore" (which is also not true).
Yeah, not dead at all, it seems like Google stopping their reader service has spawned a load of other options, usually with a free tier but with paid for heavy users.
Off the top of my head newsblur (open source) and inoreader. But yeah very much still alive:)
I recently started using it again. It's a much healthier way to consume news than scrolling reddit or social media sites.
I've also rediscovered some old favorite web comics, since most of them still post to their RSS feeds 😁
