I think at some point in the future, there will be a new wave of adopters who, as you describe, have only ever interacted on L2 and not base layer. I think that trend will emerge as normie adoption picks up and UX continues to improve on various L2 dapps.
Yes! It’s already occurring in the legacy system. This will occur as transactions ₿ecome too expensive for daily users.

Up until recently I belive the majority of users of LN were from developing nations. For those populations already pushed to the brink, LN is a necessity.
I think nostr has been one of the first significantly effective pushes into the first world population. It provides them a wider more appealing use case for LN. Value4value/zaps resonate in the culture of the first world users. It's an evolution of the underlying psychological principles of why pokes/likes/👍🏽/❤️ are now standard social media functions.
This is only the tip of the iceberg though. Still a long way to go but nostr is the first of (hopefully) many other catalysts towards onboarding the world.
