“StuGo” Officialy Cancelled At Disney Channel After One-Season. Ryan Gillis Confirms In Heartfelt MessageDr. Lullah’s summer is sadly over.Ryan Gillis has confirmed at Blue Sky that “StuGo” is not returning for more summer adventures in a heartfelt message wishing us happy holidays. The series which debuted in January made audiences fell in love with Pliny, Merian, Larry, Francis, Sara and Chip Manhands in Dr. Lullah’s mutant island alongside her assistant “Mr Okay”.Future on the series was always up in the air since most of Disney Channel’s animation lineup was absent at this year’s Annecy Film Festival with the Disney Jr. taking the spotlight. Ryan Gillis would confirm over the Summer/Fall season that the future on the series depended on Disney+ viewership.For the past year original programming on Disney Channel has struggled as the network seems to be in this weird state of giving favor to IP driven projects. During the 2024-2025 season, Disney Branded Television have cancelled multiple animated and live-action projects like “The Villans Of Valley View”, “Pretty Freekin Scary”, “Hailey’s On It!”, “Primos” and “StuGo”. Additionaly there’s reports that the new live-action Discom “Electric Bloom” is in the same will they/will they won’t as “StuGo” with some actors of that show mentioning that it might be a one-season show.Additionaly during the past year the network has debuted IP-driven projects like “ZOMBIES: The Re-Animated Series”, “Wizards Beyond Waverly Place”, “ZOMBIES 4: Dawn Of The Vampires” “Vampirina”, “Phineas And Ferb”. Next year we will see the debuts of “Camp Rock 3” and “Descendants: Wicked Wonderland” with reports of “ZOMBIES 5” slated to film in April 2026 alongside a remake of “Teen Beach Movie and a potential sequel series of the Discom ”Lab Rats“. Back in October of this year we reported that ”ZOMBIES: The Re-Animated Series“ might have been quietly renewed for a second season after reports on a potential cancellation in 2024.Disney Branded Television recently has invested in original programming for Disney Channel across the live-action department with projects like ”Coven Academy“ and " Eerie Prep”. In terms of animation we will see the debuts of “Dragon Striker” from Disney EMEA and The Doomies“ for a Disney+ release on February, 2026. Additionaly the unit will has ”The Sunnyridge 3" from Disney EMEA also for Disney+.Disney Television Animation currently has five-shows under NDA for Disney Channel & Disney based on the Disney Careers website and recent artist posts but who knows when Disney Branded Television will announce them and which of them are original.
