The mint can set any amount it wants i guess to redeem. This is just another way they can scam ya.

This is true. Hopefully any mints not being straightforward about this won’t be used / will get called out.

Wallet of Satoshi could have done this too.

I wouldn't rush to blame the mint without more info. Sounds like a lightning wallet setup issue.

Don't use eNuts it isn't maintained. Use cashu.me or nostr:nprofile1qqstxwlea9ah3u6kjjszu6a7lrnhqkfh8eptp2z6v0e9558tlkkl2rgpz4mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuerpd46hxtnfduhsz9mhwden5te0wfjkccte9ec8y6tdv9kzumn9wshszxnhwden5te0wfjkccte9ekkjmnfvf5hguewvdshx6p07xr4s5 . Sounds like you are trying to open a channel with the token. Cashu doesn't take fees to redeem. There are fees to send a lightning transaction however.

It doesn’t, won’t or can’t? Seems like that would be a good mint business model

cashu mints CAN't take fees to redeem ("swap") tokens, they SHOULD however take fees to melt or mint tokens (i.e. move in and out of the mint).
