I want to recommend the book "Tambu" by Robert Lynn Asprin. If you're interested in a character arch from protagonist to antagonist, a reverse heros journey, it's a great read. It's also a fun (short) space pirate romp. 🏴‍☠️🚀

Might find some writing inspiration from it. It's a book I have re-read many times in the last 30 years.
