How would this registration be carried out? Government will track every gun owner?

For a libertarian this is not a good idea

I’m not a fan of regulation and government intervention, and there are certainly problems like mass shootings that registration wouldn’t address or help. I do think there are people who will abuse the right to have guns, and when guns are abused a ballistics and ownership database would be useful. As it is, if I shot someone in an unjustified circumstance and the gun is never found, the murder is unlikely to be solved. If the crime scene bullet can be linked to my gun with forensic data, the murder is very likely to be solved. I recognize that having a registry makes it much easier for a herd of gun abolitionists to identify and target gun owners with politics and activism. I would like to see a reasonable middle ground on this issue. An unarmed population is a vulnerable population, but some gun ownership regulation is also necessary no?

Criminals don't give a shit about gun laws. Most of the times they will surpress the gun registry to hide the crime evidence.

Surely this will be used to disarm law-abiding citizens (as government already do nowadays)

For me the only reasonable level of gun control is: ZERO

Unfortunately I cannot disagree, I wish the government wasn’t as corrupt as the criminals. Maybe citizens can implement this regulation locally? Militias? On a sheriff county by county level. The enforcement priority exists….
