I finally put the pieces together today and came to the conclusion that blocklists probably don't even do anything beyond mute someone. Which normally would be fine for me, I only actually block chat bots and scam bots. But I realized I'm actually spreading spam like crazy probably and don't even realize it half the time, just by replying to people. Kind of ridiculous lol.
