I just purple pilled a friend who is an iPhone user. I suggested he use Damus.

I helped him establish his key pair and explained the #nostr protocol to him.

When he started using Damus, he could hardly get any search results of people to follow.

When we looked at his relay list, it had only 4 relays. I tried adding more relays but Damus didn't accept any. Entering the relay and pressing "add" does absolutely nothing.

I tried a few different relays but reached the same result every time.

Can anyone help please? Thanks

I’ve had that too. Shutting down the app and reopen again worked for me…

In this case I suppose he needs to login to a web client (or perhaps other client) which can publish an initial kind 0 event. Not sure if I’m giving the right reason for this but I remember my wife had this issue and she resolved it by logging in to snort (using browser extension)

Common on Damus. Don’t know if the issue or resolution is correct but new Users starting on Damus with BYO keys frequently have profile issues

It’s a client for new users, it’s suggest you ppls to follow and good relays.

It helped me a lot 🫂

If your friend is on Android use Amethyst. Amethyst has the best search capabilities by far. If you are on iPhone try Primal or another web based client. #grownostr
