I legit was about to cry watching Artemis I and stayed up all night to watch it (check my BirdApp shitposting for proof lol).
Apollo 13 is my favorite movie of all time, even though they never made it to the moon. They overcame literally insane odds (just google the story about when they mixed the tanks, any earlier and they would’ve run out of oxygen before they hit the moon) and showed manned space flight was possible in even the worst conditions. Ever since I can remember I wanted to go to space. I grew up in a small town where you can see almost every star in the solar system and I’d literally lay in my back yard all night dreaming of what life was like “up there”. My biggest disappointment was learning we hadn’t been to the moon since Apollo and it seemed we’d never try again. Sadly if I would’ve just stuck with it, I’m of optimal age to have been selected to go if I wouldn’t ignored the naysayers.
But here I am with you plebs forging a new path and maybe one day our corn will be as valuable as a tourist space flight!
